With the new Sortimo Control System (SCS), Sortimo is connecting the vehicle, its interior fittings and work equipment within a single central application for the first time. Using an app, users can, amongst other things, control lighting and electronic locking systems, as well as monitor the load and work equipment. This reduces the number of operating and monitoring steps and creates greater transparency and safety in day-to-day mobile working. At IAA Transportation 2026, Sortimo is showcasing the new system for the first time in the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and Transporter.
Centralised control instead of individual solutions
SCS brings together previously separate functions of the mobile workplace within a single user interface. For example, the lighting in the load compartment can be controlled via the app. With E-LOCK, vehicle access points can be opened and locked electronically. Additional monitoring functions make it easier to prepare for the next job. The Load Secure Check uses BLE sensors to check the status of the load compartment tailgate. The Inventory Check allows appropriately equipped BOXXes and tools to be tracked via BLE tags. This enables users to check more quickly whether the necessary work equipment is on board and whether relevant access points are secured. This reduces manual checks and unnecessary search times in day-to-day work.
No cloud dependency and suitable for fleet applications
In stand-alone mode, SCS communicates directly with the connected components via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). A permanent cloud connection or a separate cloud backend is not required for its use. This enables local data processing whilst avoiding ongoing backend costs. For fleet applications, SCS can be integrated with existing gateways and OEM solutions. This enables remote access and centralised management of relevant functions. In the future, integration into the vehicle display is also planned, which could eliminate the need for additional control hardware. The expandable system architecture also lays the foundation for further sensors and IoT applications.
Digital expansion of the Sortimo EcoSystem
With SCS, Sortimo is extending the EcoSystem concept to the digital control of the mobile workplace. The shared system architecture links physical products and digital functions and is designed to integrate further applications in the future. This allows the system to be further developed in line with the requirements of users and fleets.
